Lyme Grange #147

The Lyme Grange was organized on April 9th, 1896 with Gilbert H. Strong as Master and 22 Charter members. The first meeting of the Lyme Grange was held in the Mason’s Hall in Hamburg. G. H. Strong invited State Deputy Chaulker to present the idea, explain the rules and regulations and initiate members in the 4 degrees of Subordinate Grange.  The meeting lasted until 12:30AM where elections, installation and business were conducted.  The Grange is a fraternal organization with roots in rural and agricultural history in rural communities all Across America. The 2011 Grange year theme is “Community Grown”.   As a grass roots organization, our influence and positive impact is best felt in the local community of our Grange.  Although Lyme does not have a Junior Grange we support the Hillstown Junior Grange.  Each year the Grange is proud to award student loans and scholarships to accredited colleges and universities to Grange youth. The Lyme Grange also sponsors the Lyme Cub Scout Pack 32 and supports local organizations such as: Bikes for Kids, Foster Families, Cromwell Children’s Home, Labels For Education, Food Bank/Soup Kitchen, and many others who need help.  The Grange is as relevant today as it has been for 144 years!  It’s a program rich in fellowship which focuses on and is dedicated to supporting and helping our families in an ever changing world.

Lyme Grange meets the 1st Thursday of each month if you’d like to visit or are interested in becoming a member.  Email Skip Beebe at arthurbeebe@sbcglobal.net for information.
