History

The Hamburg Fair has been a tradition in Lyme since 1897.  For over 120 years the fair has brought together agricultural communities in the share to share its heritage, nostalgia, and fun filled experiences

that generations have enjoyed.  The fair reflects so much of what makes this a vital community that cares abouts its friends and neighbors and will do so for future generations.

During its history, the Hamburg Fairgrounds stood empty only 6 times.  Four years during World War II and for 2 years during the recent Coronavirus pandemic.  In 2022 the fair returned, with improved experiences for its fair goers which included more family-oriented activities.

While keeping some of the traditional agricultural themes, top notch musical entertainment was provided each evening and more new activities were introduced for Saturday afternoon, such as additional children’s games and music, an RC Car racing track and a lady’s fry pan toss, along with expanded food vendor menus and the introduction of Beer and Wine sales on the fairgrounds!

This year the Hamburg Fair is celebrating its 120th fair and the Fair Committee is proud to announce that this August 18, 19 and 20th, there will be even “MORE TO DO AND MORE TO SEE IN 2023!”

There will be even more fun filled rides, great food and drink and additional family-oriented activities and contests.  Not to be outdone by the Ladies tossing fry pans, this year the men can show off their skills with a Hay Bale Tossing Contest!  Also, groom up those mustaches men for the Friday night judged “Best Moustache” contest.

Just as the Hamburg Fair is committed to supporting its community, Fair weekend also supports local organizations with their fund-raising efforts.  Lyme/Old Lyme Boy Scout Troop 26 and the Lyme Congregational Church each benefit with the revenue from their car parking lots.  We encourage all fair goers to support these vital organization within our community.

We look forward to seeing YOU at this year’s HAMBURG FAIR.
